SUMMARY:A Restorative Practices Retreat for Connecticut Educators
DESCRIPTION:Recent state legislation (PA 23-167, § 74, effective July 1, 2023) calls for all Connecticut districts to respond to student conflict with restorative practices—approaches that hold students accountable and guide them to repair harm and reintegrate into the school community. This retreat is designed to uplift that connected vision and prepare educators for implementation in their communities.  Whether you are a classroom teacher, building leader, or school climate coordinator, this immersive two-day retreat will deepen your understanding of RP in Education and prepare you to lead it in your schools. Restorative practices in education are lived through active engagement, reflection, and relationship-building; therefore, you will engage in hands-on learning, meaningful conversations, and practice restorative strategies. This session will help you gain practical tools that center learning, belonging, and connection over punishment and exclusion. What to Expect Practice participating in and facilitating restorative circles that foster both community connection and strong academic outcomesReflect on conflict resolution and reintegration strategiesExplore tools for leading with compassion and clarity in moments of challengeAlign your current practices and policies with Connecticut’s school climate and discipline expectationsNetwork and collaborate with other committed educatorsLearn from students currently leading RP work in their schools OutcomesBuild a regional relationship around RJ practices and responses.Leave with practical and tangible takeaways.Gain a new understanding of restorative practices specific to your role.Deepen your general understanding of Restorative Practices in Education.Intended AudienceSuperintendents Teachers School & District Leaders School Climate CoordinatorsRJ & SEL Facilitators Student Support StaffSchool Resource Officers (SROs) Community Partners What’s IncludedTwo full days of restorative learning and facilitationBreakfast and Lunch on both daysRestorative Justice Facilitator Resource GuideCertificate for 15 professional development contact hoursTools aligned with CT’s new restorative practices policy (PA 23-167, § 74)Dates & Times:August 13th – 14th, 20269 AM – 3:00 PM each day
