Teachers’ Professional Learning Group

Monthly Meetings on Select Thursdays

September 2020 – June 2021

Join us for our year-long Teachers’ Professional Learning Group (PLG). PLGs are cohorts of participants who meet regularly to learn from research, share dilemmas, examine work, and push and challenge each other. Over the years we have seen the power of PLGs to effect meaningful and lasting change in schools. Virtual PLGs give participants the opportunity to learn and grow with others who work in different schools and communities while helping to keep us healthy and safe during the Covid-19 pandemic. This PLG will provide new perspectives in a supportive and facilitated online environment across the entire school year. Registration closes September 11, 2020.

The goal of the teachers’ PLG is to support teacher professional development toward teacher leadership and the implementation of practices to help create more equitable schools for all students. 

This will be an educator-driven group, with members suggesting topics, dilemmas, and work to share.

Through our work, participants will:

  • Identify connections, exchange ideas, and foster professional relationships in order to support teacher leadership and the implementation of practices to help create more equitable schools for all students. 
  • Apply new learning and perspectives to dilemmas and work related to creating equitable outcomes for all learners.
  • Apply knowledge and develop strategies for implementing classroom and school change. 
  • Use the shifting context of the 2020-21 school year as a catalyst for growth and improvement, both as professionals and for our students.

This PLG is open to teachers only. Depending on the number of participants, their interests, and their roles, groups may be organized into cohorts based on content area, grade level, or state.

Meeting Dates & Times

The success of a PLG is a result of the commitment of its members to attend as many meetings as possible. All meetings will be held monthly, via Zoom, from 3-4 p.m. ET, on the following Thursdays:

Sept. 29*, Oct. 8, Nov. 12, Dec. 10, Jan. 14, Feb. 4, Mar. 11, Apr. 8, May 13, Jun. 10.

*The first meeting will take place on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 from 3-4 p.m. ET.


The cost of this year-long PLG is $500 per person.

Ten spots will be made available this year at no cost for those with financial need. These spots are made available by Great Schools Partnership in order to support the learning of teachers who might not have access to professional development funds. We will hold a lottery to select names for these spaces once registration closes on September 11.

Cancellation Policy

You may transfer your registration to another attendee without penalty at any time or request a refund. All refund requests for cancellations will be refunded based on the following scale. 
  • On or before 0-14 days prior to the event: no refund.
  • Between 15-30 days prior to the event:  50% refunded
  • More than 30 days prior to the event: 75% refunded 

The event date is the first meeting of the series.

Emergency Refunds may be granted if an attendee is unable to attend due to the death of an immediate family member, hospitalization, or other extraordinary circumstance and will be subject to a 10% processing fee. All emergency refund requests must be received no later than two weeks after the event conclusion.

All cancellations and requests for transfer must be sent in writing via email.
