Community Engagement Site Visit: Lawrence Public Schools

Community Engagement Site Visit: Lawrence Public Schools
November 22, 2019

Lawrence Heritage State Park
1 Jackson Street
Lawrence, MA 01844

This summer, in response to advocacy from students, families, and staff from the Lawrence Public Schools, the Lawrence school board approved a groundbreaking set of policies to amplify student and family voice. In addition to exploring these new policies, you’ll hear directly from the Lawrence team who led the charge. Local leaders will share how they decided to pursue policy as a lever for sustainability, the strategies they used to set up the policies for adoption, the lessons they are learning about implementation, and their plans for next steps. And you’ll have opportunities to consider implications and possibilities for your own community-engagement work.

Districts are encouraged to bring teams of 2-3 people to facilitate the one-on-one connections and small group conversations that make a site visit such a rich experience.
