Elements of Effective Instruction
Student engagement is the result of effective instruction. Students who are able to make choices about their learning, are clear about the outcomes they are aiming for, and feel safe and supported in their learning environment will be more engaged learners. We invite you to embrace this opportunity to grow and learn in your teaching practice to better meet the needs of the students you serve. In this full-day (or two half-day) workshop(s), educators will consider their strengths in GSP’s Elements of Effective Instruction, and explore areas they’d like to grow. A self-assessment will be utilized to enable participants to choose their focus for deeper investigation. Educators will have the opportunity to engage with colleagues in learning and planning for:
- Supportive and safe learning environments
- Clear, shared outcomes, including essential learnings, transferable skills, and success criteria
- Varied content, process, and product to meet student needs and provide choice
- Practice and formative feedback
- Complex thinking and transfer through interdisciplinary assessments and problem solving
