CALL FOR PROPOSALS

The Great Schools Partnership (GSP) is inviting educators, students, and community partners from New England and across the nation to submit proposals to lead workshops for the 12th School Redesign in Action (SRIA) conference. Join us March 25 and 26, 2024, in Providence, Rhode Island for SRIA, a conference to highlight and share school redesign efforts that are improving educational equity and personalized learning.

Our theme this year is Bold Vision, Bold Action, inspired by the work of this year’s keynote speaker, Dr. Jamila Dugan. To learn more about Dugan’s vision, listen to her on the Street Data podcast and read her article, “Radical Dreaming for Education Now.”

We are seeking proposals that showcase how community, district, classroom, or school efforts have led to a more equitable, rigorous, and personalized experience for students, including but not limited to:

Proposals should highlight work that you are or have been actively engaged in. We will prioritize the selection of sessions that:

Vendors or non-profit organizations presenting without practicing educators as co-presenters and wishing to sell their products or services to participants will not be considered for session presentations.

If you have concerns about being able to fully participate in the workshop of your choice, please contact the SRIA Conference Team at events@greatschoolspartnership.org prior to the event so we can arrange with the presenters of your chosen workshops to accommodate your needs.

We recognize that COVID-19 and other infectious diseases pose special risks to those with compromised immune systems and other health problems, and that large in-person events present challenges for such individuals. With this in mind, we are monitoring the local situation so that we can respond to it as needed. Currently:

  • We ask that you please stay home if you experience fever, cough, muscle aches, or other symptoms in the days leading up to the event.
  • Regardless of symptoms, we strongly encourage attendees to self-test for COVID-19 before attending the conference.
  • We encourage attendees to update their vaccination status according to CDC guidelines and to avoid other large gatherings in advance of the event in order to further mitigate risk.
  • SRIA 2024 will be a mask-friendly event. We encourage attendees to mask according to their comfort and needs.
  • Event spaces will be well-ventilated.
  • On the day of the event, we will offer red, yellow, and green stickers that can be affixed to your name badge as a signal to other attendees about the level of physical-distancing you prefer.
    • Red sticker: No contact, please maintain space between us.
    • Yellow sticker: Elbow bumps, I am being cautious.
    • Green sticker: Handshakes welcome.

Your conference registration covers the cost of a continental breakfast, your lunch, and other refreshments during the day on both days. Our lunch is served buffet style, with vegetarian and gluten-free options provided. You will be asked about dietary restrictions and allergies at the time of registration, which help us to have the appropriate portions of those items on hand. Please provide dietary information at the time of registration. If you need further assistance, please contact us to make arrangements.

Our keynote conference session takes place in a large ballroom with a raised stage, a screen where slides are shown, and sound-amplification. Seating will be arranged around tables. The Omni Providence Events Team will take care to arrange the room to allow for easy navigation by attendees, including those with mobility issues. If you feel you may need special seating due to a mobility aid, service animal, or visual or hearing impairment, please contact us to make arrangements.

Trained service and assistance animals are allowed at the Omni Providence in accordance with
federal and state law. Emotional support animals are not permitted.

There will be dedicated wellness and quiet spaces available for conference participants to attend to their various needs. This will include two private, locked rooms reserved for individuals to pray, nursing mothers, etc. These wellness rooms are first-come, first-served, and keys will be available at the registration desk. An additional quiet space will be available and accessible to any conference participant to step away to attend to their mental health, take a break, have reflection time, etc.

The School Redesign in Action Conference is an in-person event. We do not offer a virtual option for SRIA at this time. If you wish to engage with us in a virtual setting, please explore our other events for workshops and sessions offered via Zoom.

Your questions and comments help us learn how to better remove barriers to access for our conference. Please contact the SRIA Conference Team at events@greatschoolspartnership.org prior to the event to share your ideas and to be sure that your needs are met.
