Research-Supported Principles for Proficiency-Based Learning

Webinar Date: February 10, 2015

Presenters: Mark Kostin, associate director + Kate Gardoqui, senior associate

Rather than being a stand-alone specific school intervention, we believe Proficiency-Based Learning (PBL) is actually the sum of a series of well-known and research-supported practices. When combined and implemented in a thoughtful manner, PBL practices like assessing and reporting learning by standards, providing just-in-time interventions and supports, and disaggregating Habits of Work from content-specific knowledge and skills are supported by the literature.

During this webinar, we will share the Great Schools Partnership’s approach and principles for proficiency-based learning and align these with support from current studies. We will also share strategies for engaging in conversations around these principles to help build a shared understanding and inform the implementation of proficiency-based learning in your schools.
