From Talking Points to Action Steps: Creating Bridges and Pathways Through Systems Thinking

 

Description: This community of practice focuses on addressing systems and strategies used in schools and districts to create learning experiences for students aligned to school or district strategic plans. Join us in better understanding how to weave together the many different initiatives happening in schools. We will explore topics including advisory, exhibitions of learning, instruction and assessment policies and practices, and strategic plans.

What is a community of practice? A community of practice is a group of people who have a shared concern or passion and convene to share ideas, pose questions, explore new possibilities, create knowledge, administer consultancies, and move to action. Over time, as the group works toward collective meaning-making and problem-solving, a community of practice fosters trust and relationships among participants..

Outcomes:

• Relationship Building: Identify connections, exchange ideas, and foster professional relationships across schools
• Learning Together: Apply new learning and perspectives through collaboration, support, and critical inquiry
• Sharing & Accessing Resources: Share resources, knowledge, best practices, and strategies for strategic planning and systemic thinking in schools
• Application: Build the capacity of COP participants to lead system-wide work in schools

Audience: Educators who are responsible for enacting school and district strategic plans (teacher leaders, school counselors, and school or district leaders).

In-Person Dates & Times: This community of practice will meet in person on:

• Tuesday, July 23, 2024, 10:00 AM-4:00 PM, and Wednesday, July 24, 2024, 8:30 AM-12:30 PM, at Keene High School in Keene, New Hampshire.
• One day in March 2025. 8:30 AM -3:00 PM (specific date, city, and venue to be determined).

Virtual Dates & Times: This community of practice will also meet virtually via Zoom on:

• Thursday, September 26, 2024 @ 3:45-5:15 PM EST
• Thursday, November 21, 2024 @ 3:45-5:15 PM EST
• Thursday, January 16, 2025 @ 3:45-5:15 PM EST
• Thursday, May 22, 2025 @ 3:45-5:15 PM EST

$1500.00 per person for the Community of Practice series.
