Principals’ Professional Learning Group

This is the second meeting of the Principals’ Professional Learning Group (PLG), which meets monthly over Zoom—except for the March 27 meeting, which will take place in person in Newport, Rhode Island in conjunction with the School Redesign in Action (SRIA) Conference.

Together, we’ll learn from research, share dilemmas, examine work, and push and challenge each other. This PLG will provide new perspectives in a supportive and facilitated online environment throughout the school year, allowing participants to engage and learn from colleagues across districts, regions, school sizes, and experience levels.
Principals will collaboratively drive the focus of each meeting. At times, we will break into smaller, choice-based groups to tackle timely and urgent issues that arise during our time together.

Participant Outcomes

The goal of the Principals’ PLG is to foster professional development and support change in service of creating more equitable schools for all students. Through our work, participants will:

  • Identify connections, exchange ideas, and foster professional relationships.
  • Apply new learning and perspectives to dilemmas and work related to creating equitable outcomes for all students.
  • Share resources, knowledge, and strategies for implementing school change.
  • Use the shifting context of the 2022-23 school year as a catalyst for growth and improvement, both as people and as leaders.
What Is the Format?

This session, which will be conducted virtually via Zoom, will include interactive small-group discussions. We will not be recording this session. One session, on March 27, will be held in person

Intended For

This PLG is open exclusively to elementary or secondary school principals. We have found the rich interplay between a range of principals—from new to highly experienced—leads to deeper conversations and more diverse perspectives.
