Are you looking to transform your school into a space where students engage deeply in problem-solving, collaboration, and critical thinking? Join us for a guided book club on Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics by Peter Liljedahl.

GSP designed this book study for school leaders and teachers eager to implement research-backed strategies that foster student thinking and engagement. Together, we will unpack key principles from the book, reflect on current practices, and develop actionable steps to implement high-impact strategies in our classrooms and schools. While the book frames the strategies around math instruction, many of the routines and practices support strong learning across the curriculum.

Throughout the book club, we will:

  • Examine the 14 practices that create a culture of thinking in classrooms.
  • Discuss practical ways to support colleagues as they shift instruction to increase student engagement.
  • Share experiences, insights, and challenges as we apply these strategies in our roles as teacher leaders, school leaders, or district leaders.
  • Collaborate on how to support systemic change at the school and district levels.

Drawing from GSP’s experience supporting the integration of routines from Building Thinking Classrooms at dozens of schools, this book study will be interactive and application-focused. Your facilitators will provide opportunities to learn, reflect, and take meaningful steps toward building a more student-centered, thinking-rich learning environment.
